    Quoting Trends: Toyota

In the past, we’ve heard from agents that one of the things they struggle with is knowing what makes and models work best for a specialty policy through Hagerty. The Cars You Should Know list isn’t just a compilation of the cars we think are cool, it’s the cars we see come across our book of business most often (that also happen to be very cool, of course).

Just over 2% of Hagerty’s policy quotes in 2024 were for a Toyota. For the models we feature here, 80% of the the quotes came from Gen X and younger (people born after 1964). The highest share for younger enthusiasts went to the Supra with 88% of the quotes being from Gen X and younger. Read on to learn more about who’s quoting what in the world of Toyota.

Land Cruiser | Holding onto its place in the Hagerty top 25 list, the Land Cruiser came in at 24 for most popular enthusiast vehicles based on quote volume in 2024. The FJ40 is the most popular generation, followed by the FJ80. Quote volume has increased by 7% since 2019 and, as mentioned above, a large share—75% for Land Cruisers—is coming from Gen X and younger enthusiasts.

Supra | The Supra came in at number 27, with a similar quote volume to the BMW Z3. The average quote value was $54,900 in 2024 which is up 67% from $32,800 in 2019. Quote volume is up 50% since 2019 and the 1990s Supra (Mk IV) is the most popular, with the prior Mk II coming in second and the reintroduced Mk V Supra coming in third.

Pick-ups | The Pickup is ranked 29th by quote volume with an average quote value of $12,600. Its share of quotes from Gen X was above average at 76% and is up from 59% in 2019. The most popular Pickup is the fifth generation of the 1990s, followed by the fourth generation (aka the Back to the Future generation) of the 1980s. The first- and second-generation Pickups are rarely quoted, probably due to their low survival rate (they were seen as inexpensive work trucks at the time).
